UFC star Conor McGregor was in a Dublin courtroom Tuesday as the civil trial for a 2018 sexual assault allegation got underway.

Nikita Hand is claiming civil damages against McGregor and another man, alleging she was sexually assaulted. Mr McGregor's lawyers told the court Ms Hand, who has no automatic right to anonymity, is attempting extortion.

Irish mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Conor McGregor "in effect raped" a woman who suffered a "violent and vicious assault" at his hands, jurors at Dublin's High Court have been told.

A jury has been sworn at the High Court to hear a civil action for damages against Irish mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor and another man for the alleged sexual assault of a woman. Justice Alexander Owens told the jury that the allegation is that,
