Mark Mobius, the head honcho at Mobius Capital Partners LLP and a big name in the emerging market investment world, believes that the Sensex could hit the one lakh mark by the end of this year. In a chat with CNBC-TV18,

Mark Mobius says Sensex could reach 100,000 by year-end, despite potential temporary downturns due to likely Sebi directive on derivatives.

Mobius, who is also referred as 'The Indiana Jones of Emerging Market Investing’, said that if capital market regulator SEBI comes out with regulations to limit derivatives activity then it could have an ‘unprecedented’ impact on the market.

The BSE Sensex is up 18% so far in 2024 and has delivered positive returns annually every single year since 2015, when it had declined 5%.

The ongoing momentum in Indian stocks is likely to take Sensex past 1,00,000 mark 'probably by end of the year', provided measures by capital market regulator do not become a dampener, Mobius said.
