Stellantis STLAM.MI said Monday it is recalling 194,000 plug-in hybrid electric Jeep SUVs to address fire risks after 13 fires were reported, and it told owners to park outside and away from other vehicles until recall repairs are completed.

Car companies Stellantis and Chrysler have issued a recall after fires were traced back to certain Jeep hybrid plug-in models.

Automaker Stellantis on Monday recalled 154,032 Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrids built in recent years after discovering a significant fire risk.

Jeep's owner, Stellantis, has recalled about 194,000 plug-in hybrid SUVs from the brand due to a risk of fire. The recall impacts specific Jeep Wrangler 4xe models from 2020 to 2024 and some Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe SUVs from 2022 to 2024 — the company estimates about five percent of the vehicles will have the defect.

The news comes a day after the company’s shares plunged as it cut its earnings guidance.

Jeep has officially recalled almost 200,000 vehicles due to a serious safety issue. The news was reported by Stellantis, the automotive company that makes Jeeps, on Sept. 30, with the company issuing a fire risk advisory due to a reported issue that occurred when the car was parked and turned off.
