The Wizard of Oz prequel is getting its own movie this month, with Wicked's cast list being led by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. It turns out they both got Covid on the set, but Grande's timing couldn't have been worse.

Ariana Grande is looking to return to her first love: musical theater. The Grammy-winning singer, who plays Glinda in Jon M. Chu‘s adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway musical Wicked, recently said on the Las Culturistas podcast that the movie was a "healing" experience that has led her to consider "reconnecting" with the theater world.

Cynthia Erivo shaded the actresses who auditioned for the role of Glinda in the “Wicked” movie, expressing her gratitude that Ariana Grande ultimately landed the part. In a new interview with The New York Times, Erivo, 37, and Grande, 31, spoke about the casting process.

The stars of the new movie reflect on their long ride together, getting through Covid and the actors’ strike, and avoiding “playing to the green.”
