PISCATAWAY – Rutgers football’s undefeated start continues. The Scarlet Knights turned in a solid showing on both sides of the ball and held off a late Washington comeback attempt to escape with a 21-18 victory at a raucous SHI Stadium Friday night.

Rutgers has found a way defensively. The Scarlet Knights have done it by limiting opponents on third downs and buckling down in the red zone, but in its two games against Power Four opponents, Rutgers has not been good enough for a unit that finished last season ranked 16th nationally in yards allowed.

Rutgers was unbeaten and favored coming in and they showed the Huskies life in their new conference won’t be easy, defeating Washington, 21-18.
