The Supreme Court on Thursday (Oct 3) took over the case involving Isha Foundation and spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev from the Madras High Court. This decision came just two days after the High Court had asked the Tamil Nadu government to provide details of all criminal cases filed against Isha Foundation.

The action came after a petitioner told the court that his two daughters were being held captive at the yoga centre in the foundation.

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev's Isha Foundation moved the Supreme Court on Thursday challenging the Madras high court order that sought a report from the Tamil Nadu government on all criminal cases registered against the foundation.

The probe was initiated in response to a plea filed by a retired professor, who claimed his two daughters were being held against their will at the Isha Yoga centre.

The Tamil Nadu police had raided the foundation in Coimbatore on Tuesday after the Madras High Court sought details of the criminal cases filed against it.

The HC bench while hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by S Kamaraj, a retired professor from Coimbatore, had directed the Tamil Nadu government to submit particulars on all the criminal cases registered against the spiritual guru Jaggi Vasudev's Isha Foundation.
