Nearby Historic Biltmore Village, a walkable mixed-use community with shops, restaurants, and residences, has suffered catastrophic damage. Images show that much of the area was underwater, with downed trees, overturned vehicles, and impassable roads.

Now, the area is experiencing historic flooding thanks to Helene and is largely underwater.

More than 200 people were reported rescued from flood waters in North Carolina following Helene’s torrential rains with more expected in the coming days. Water levels in the Biltmore Village of Asheville reached the first story of many buildings.
